Annual Awards: |
The
following SSCA awards were presented. John Merz SSCA Series Cup, Top Youth/Overall/Corey
Coons, Female Sydney Byrns, Top Master Ben Pickford, Top Crew, Nicolas
Oteruelo. Sailor of the Year, Logan Campbell, BSSC for
finishing 4th at the Canada Games and 6th at the
Nationals. Volunteer of the Year, Sandy Lauder for all of
his work with the Canada Games, the CYA, the SSCA and the Regina Sailing Club
and all of the volunteers of the 2005 Jeux Canada Games at the Regina Sailing
Club. |

The
agenda was reviewed. Motion: Romuald
Lagace/Gayvin Franson– accept the agenda as presented. Carried |

Business arising from minutes: |
Wendy Soare was omitted from attendance sheet. Scott Turk is the LDYC contact not Steve Turk. CYA Disabled membership fees for the CYA,
Correspondence from the E.D. of CYA indicates that a “CYA only collects a
small portion of membership revenues that it ought to, based on clubs
reporting less than their actual memberships. Conversely, CYA is asked
regularly to identify what tangible benefits it provides to the membership of
the clubs.” ACTION ITEM Mark
to follow up with CYA re; membership fees for the Disabled Sailing Members
with the CYA Regarding 2005 Motion: Morris Markentin/Walter
Gumprich Commodores to discuss a $25.00 increase in membership fees and get
back to SSCA by Oct. “Talk on the dock” with SSCA memberships is not positive
and not supported. 2005 Membership
Lists for clubs, the LDYC and the BSC have submitted the lists as per
understanding from the 2005 SSCA AGM to receive MAP funding. |

Minutes of the January 23rd, 2005 AGM Meeting: |
Motion: Ben Pickford/Romuald Lagace
– That the minutes of the January 23rd, 2005, AGM meeting be
approved as presented. Carried |

Reports: |
President Report: Sandy Lauder. 2005 was
Centennial Year for SK, and the biggest National sporting event, the Canada
Games was hosted at the Regina Sailing Club. Sandy thanked all of the
volunteers for the Canada Games. Sandy also discussed the SSCA strategic plan the work
plan and the plan of operations as part of the ongoing commitment to working
with clubs and have an understanding for what SSCA does. Sandy is looking
forward to sailing this year. VP Report. Mike Heseltine. No report. Treasurer Report: Patty Coons, Financial
statements Audited report plus a 4-page expansion of the funding categories
presented. Discussion about when the membership fees can be submitted to SSCA
and CYA. Motion: Patty Coons/Romuald Lagace– Accept the
Audited Statement. Carried Motion: Patty Coons/Ben Pickford– Hire HVB
auditor for 2006 to do the SSCA financials. Carried Training Report. Motion Jaime
Hogan/Helen Molloy Increase the cost of the school to $1,600 for the weeklong
sailing school. Carried Communication report. No report. Staff report. Mark thanked all of the
volunteers from the Canada Games. The event was very well received and all of
the ongoing issues that arise from an event of this Nature were handled well
and in a timely manner. The Sailing Team finished 6,7,and 8th at
the Nationals and 4,5,7,8,9,10, at the Canada Games. BSSC Report. Jaime Hogan. 25th
anniversary for the club. Wednesday night racing continues to be a success.
Jaime thanked Ben Pickford for organizing Race Management for sunset series.
Ben Received the Commodores Cup for exemplary work for the club. Discussion
about how to improve the sunset series to get numbers up. Mark suggested that
the start change might have hurt the attendance because some have said it is
too early. ½ day wheel chair sailing went OK. Sailing school was not
full/cancelled and then became full the day before. SSC report Wendy
Soare. Racing activity with the Team went well at the club, Water levels,
membership fees registration for the Sailing School all climbed. BBQ at the
Sailing School was well received.
Battlefords SC. Mike Ritchie. Water
levels are up. BSC has a sailing school and are using tumbleweeds for it;
Jo-el did a very good job with it this year. Annual Regatta, numbers were
down and disappointing, right after the Canada Games. Sask. Windsurfing C. No report PASC Dennis Evans. Sailing
School dates were not good for the PASC, Request to have it 1 week later.
Kelly Pawlyshyn did a great job with the School. RSC Patty Coons. The club
hosted 2005 Canada Games. Legacy Improvements to the club site are very
positive with break-wall and boathouse. Patty thanked the many volunteers for
the regatta. LDYC Scott Turk, 3 Regattas were contested at LDYC. Sailing school
was a success. New clubhouse is being built with funds raised from
membership. New mast hoist is being well used.
