Masters Sailors Planning for 2010 and 2011

Attention Masters Sailors,

Plan ahead. 3 events that will be in the ‘area’ over the next 2 seasons.

* 2010 Western Canadian Masters, back at the Wabamun SC for June 5-6.
* 2010 Pacific Coast Masters, Cascade Locks July 24-25
* 2011 World Masters, San Francisco, August 12-20

The PCM and the WM are at venues were there should be hiking conditions, although with global warming, ???

I have sailed at both venues, the Cascade Locks event was a lot of fun, short beats because the current goes upwind or wind goes upstream, flatter water at the windward mark, wavy at the leeward mark,…………and the Z course when the breeze is really on. Practice the reach to reach jibes going from port to starboard.

If Richmond YC and the Berkley circle is the host for the World Masters, you leave the club in 5 knots of breeze and as you get closer and closer to the circle, the breeze is dialed up, sometimes, 20 knots +. At the end of the day the exact opposite, as you get closer to the dock everyone is taking off kit. The Transamerica Pyramid building becomes an excellent transit/land site to use to locate the windward mark. Perhaps one of the best West Coast venues, with Santa Cruz and Long Beach.

WCM is at the premier D-5 venue. We know what to expect and it is good.

Plan ahead.
